🌱 uTerra Begins New Cooperation with United Tropical Fruit to Support Malaysia’s Iconic Musang King & Black Thorn Durian
A new international agricultural trial is bringing together Malaysian durian expertise and biological soil technology from the UAE.
uTerra Middle East Agro Industries LLC is pleased to announce the beginning of a new cooperation with United Tropical Fruit Sdn. Bhd. (UTF) in Malaysia for field trials involving two of Malaysia’s most recognised premium durian varieties — Musang King (D197) and Black Thorn (D200).
The cooperation marks another step in uTerra’s international expansion and its commitment to evaluating biological agricultural solutions under real farming conditions across different climates, soils and crops.
United Tropical Fruit is a Malaysian plantation management and durian specialist company involved in durian nursery development, plantation management, agricultural research and the development of premium Malaysian durian varieties. Its work includes Musang King and Black Thorn durian operations.
🇲🇾 Malaysia’s Premium Durian Meets Biological Agriculture
Malaysia’s durian industry has become internationally recognised for premium cultivars such as Musang King (D197) and Black Thorn (D200).
Musang King is particularly known for its creamy texture and distinctive sweet-bitter flavour and is one of the most commercially sought-after Malaysian durian varieties. United Tropical Fruit identifies Musang King as one of its key Malaysian varieties.
United Tropical Fruit’s involvement in organic Musang King development also has an established research background. In 2021, UTF entered into a memorandum of understanding with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang covering research and development related to organic Musang King durian, including an organic durian nursery and knowledge-sharing activities.
The company is also listed by Malaysia’s Department of Agriculture under its plant-material certification scheme, with an active registration covering Durian D197 and D200 at its Organic Musang King Durian Nursery Research and Development Centre at UiTM Jengka.
🏆 Recognition at MAHA 2026
United Tropical Fruit recently received major recognition for its work in Malaysian durian nursery development.
According to Plantations International, UTF was awarded “Best Musang King Durian & Black Thorn Durian Nursery Setup 2026” at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026.
The award recognised UTF’s approach to Musang King and Black Thorn nursery development and its investment in organic cultivation technology, agricultural research and plantation infrastructure. The recognition was presented during the MAHA 2026 awards ceremony by Malaysia’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu.
This makes the new uTerra–UTF cooperation particularly significant: the trial brings together a company with specialist experience in Malaysian durian development and a UAE-based producer of biological soil and plant nutrition solutions.
🌿 uTerra Enters the Durian Trial
The next stage is to evaluate the application of uTerra Complex Biofertilizer under Malaysian durian-growing conditions.
